General repairs in Nelson, Richmond & Motueka

The jobs on your list that never get done. No job too small, and I mean that.

I take on the general repairs most trades will not turn out for, across Nelson, Richmond, Motueka, Māpua and the wider Tasman district.

Sticking doors, broken hinges, rotten weatherboards, shelving, roof and spouting repairs, ground repairs, and water damage put right. Quotes are free.

Scope

The sort of thing I get called for

Doors, windows and hinges

Doors that stick, drag, will not latch or have dropped on their hinges. Usually a quick fix that has annoyed you for years.

Weatherboards and cladding

Cracked, split or rotten boards cut out and replaced before the damage gets behind the cladding.

Shelving and fixings

Shelves, rails, brackets, TV mounts and handrails put up properly, and fixed into something that will hold.

Roof and spouting repairs

Loose fixings, lifted sheets, leaking joints and sagging spouting sorted while I am up there.

Ground repairs

Paths, steps, edging and the bits of a section that have sunk, lifted or become a trip hazard.

Water damage repairs

Damaged linings, trim and fittings put back after a leak, including full bathroom refurbishment.

Why it matters

Small jobs are most of what I do

There is a whole category of work that is too small for a specialist trade to bother with and too awkward to do yourself. A door that has never shut properly. A weatherboard that has gone soft. A shelf that needs fixing into something solid rather than plasterboard.

That list tends to sit there for years. It is genuinely the most satisfying work to clear, and it is usually a lot quicker than people expect once someone turns up with the right tools.

Because I have worked across a range of trades, one visit can often cover several unrelated things. That is cheaper for you than booking three different people and waiting for all of them.

Worth knowing

If any of this sounds familiar

  • There is a list on the fridge that has not changed in two years.
  • A door or window has never shut properly since you moved in.
  • Something is cracked, rotten or soft and you are not sure how serious it is.
  • You need several small unrelated jobs done and nobody will come out for one of them.
  • A leak has been fixed but the damage it caused has not been put right.
  • You are getting a rental ready and the small stuff is what is holding it up.

What Tasman locals say

I highly recommend Daniel from Handy Property Care! He helped us with repairs around the house, including some roof work and fixing a shelf in the kitchen. He was efficient, friendly, and punctual, and his prices are reasonable.

We are very pleased with the work that Dan from Handy Property Care has done on our properties. His completed work is of a high standard, whether outside (garden maintenance) or indoors. He recently refurbished a bathroom that had extensive water damage, and again, superb workmanship.

Dan communicates clearly, turns up when he says he will, does a great job and charges appropriately. He's done long grass strimming for me twice now and I'd highly recommend him. I'll be back for all future tasks needing doing!

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Not covered here? Call me on 021 0839 2908 and ask.

Is there a minimum job size?

No. Small jobs are most of my work, and I would rather come and clear five small things in a morning than have you chase five different trades. If it is a single tiny fix, say so and we will work out whether it makes sense on its own or alongside something else.

Can you do several different jobs in one visit?

Yes, and that is usually the most sensible way to use me. Send through the whole list and I will price the lot, rather than treating each one as a separate call-out.

Do you do bathroom or interior repairs after a leak?

Yes. Putting linings, trim and fittings back after water damage is regular work, up to and including refurbishing a bathroom that has taken extensive damage.

What if it turns out to be bigger than it looks?

I will tell you before carrying on. Sometimes a soft weatherboard is one board and sometimes it is a sign of something behind it. Either way you will hear it straight rather than find out from the invoice.

Do you work for landlords and property managers?

Yes, regularly. Maintenance lists, work between tenancies, and dealing directly with tenants where that is easier for you.
