Scope

What I cover

Lawn mowing and edging

Regular mowing with the edges trimmed properly. Clippings taken away, or left on site if you would rather compost them.

Hedge trimming and pruning

Hedges squared up, shrubs and small trees pruned back before they start blocking a path, a window or the washing line.

Weeding and garden beds

Beds cleared out, weeds pulled or sprayed, and mulch topped up so they stay clear for longer.

Seasonal tidy-ups

Autumn leaf clearing, spring cut-backs, and the bigger reset when a section has got away on you over a wet winter.

Long grass and overgrown sections

Line trimming and slashing where a mower cannot get. Rentals between tenancies, vacant sections and paddock edges.

New lawns and turf

Ground prepped and levelled and new turf laid, or worn patches repaired where the grass has given up.

Why it matters

Gardening for people who would rather be doing something else

Keeping a garden healthy and tidy takes time, and most weekends have other plans. I take care of the ongoing work so your outdoor space looks after itself, from a general tidy-up through to regular lawn and garden maintenance.

A well kept garden is not only about how the place looks. Overgrown beds push against fences and paths, leaves rot into gutters and decking, and lawns thin out when they are left long between cuts. Staying on top of it costs less than fixing it later.

Plenty of my clients book a regular slot so it just gets done. Others call when it has got on top of them and want it pulled back into shape. Either is fine, and I will tell you honestly which one your section actually needs.

Worth knowing

Signs it is time to call someone in

  • Beds have grown into fences, paths or the side of the house.
  • Leaves and clippings are building up faster than you can clear them.
  • The lawn has gone patchy, mossy or thin from being cut too infrequently.
  • You are between tenants and the section needs to look sharp for viewings.
  • You simply have not got the weekends spare, and it keeps sliding down the list.

What Tasman locals say

I highly recommend Daniel from Handy Property Care! He helped us with repairs around the house, including some roof work and fixing a shelf in the kitchen. He was efficient, friendly, and punctual, and his prices are reasonable.

We are very pleased with the work that Dan from Handy Property Care has done on our properties. His completed work is of a high standard, whether outside (garden maintenance) or indoors. He recently refurbished a bathroom that had extensive water damage, and again, superb workmanship.

Dan communicates clearly, turns up when he says he will, does a great job and charges appropriately. He's done long grass strimming for me twice now and I'd highly recommend him. I'll be back for all future tasks needing doing!

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Not covered here? Call me on 021 0839 2908 and ask.

How often should I book a gardener?

It depends on the section and the season. Most lawns want cutting weekly or fortnightly through spring and summer and much less over winter. Gardens often suit a seasonal visit instead. Tell me what you have and I will suggest something sensible rather than selling you visits you do not need.

Do you take the green waste away?

Yes, I can take clippings and prunings away with me. If you would rather keep them for compost or a green waste bin, that is no problem either. Just say which you prefer when you book.

Can you mow a rental between tenancies?

Yes. Landlords and property managers are a good chunk of my regular work. I can work to a list, get a section tidy before viewings, and deal directly with tenants where that is easier for you.

Do you spray weeds?

Yes, where spraying is the right tool for the job. Some beds are better hand weeded and mulched, which keeps them clear for longer, so I will tell you which makes sense for your garden.

My section has completely got away on me. Is that a problem?

Not at all, it is some of the most satisfying work. Long grass, overgrown beds and years of build-up can all be pulled back. It takes a bigger first visit, then it is easy to maintain.
