Ongoing upkeep

Property maintenance you can rely on

Most property problems start small. A gutter that does not quite drain, a loose decking board, a weatherboard that has lost its paint. Left alone for a couple of Tasman winters, they turn into real money.

I handle the jobs that get overlooked. Leaking taps, broken hinges, cracked weatherboards, sticking doors, worn paintwork, blocked spouting. It's unglamorous work, and it's the reason a well-kept house costs less to own.

You can book a one-off visit or set up a regular slot. Landlords and property managers usually go for the second option, with a list worked through on each visit.

  • One-off visits or scheduled maintenance
  • Homeowners, landlords, property managers and businesses
  • A price agreed before any work starts
  • Handy for off-site owners and between tenancies

About me

Hi, I'm Dan, your local Tasman handyman

I've been on the tools since I was a teenager, starting out in the family construction business and training across a range of trades. More than ten years of that has been spent working on homes and properties around the Tasman district.

That background is why one visit can cover a fence, a blocked gutter and a door that won't close. It's also why I take the health and safety side seriously rather than treating it as paperwork.

When you call Handy Property Care, you get me. I quote the job, I do the job, and I pick up the phone afterwards. There's no call centre and no subcontractor you've never met turning up in your driveway.

Why people call Dan back

What you actually get

One tradesman, start to finish

You deal with me. I quote the job, I do the job, and I answer the phone. No call centre, and no subcontractor you've never met turning up in your driveway.

Over a decade on the tools

I grew up working in the family construction business and have been trading across Tasman for more than ten years. That range is why one visit can cover a fence, a gutter and a sticking door.

Turns up when he says he will

The thing customers mention most in my reviews isn't the workmanship, it's that I show up. If something changes, you hear about it before the day, not after.

Priced before the work starts

Free quotes, and a price agreed before anything starts. You approve the number before a tool comes out of the van.

Reviews

What Tasman locals say

I highly recommend Daniel from Handy Property Care! He helped us with repairs around the house, including some roof work and fixing a shelf in the kitchen. He was efficient, friendly, and punctual, and his prices are reasonable.

We are very pleased with the work that Dan from Handy Property Care has done on our properties. His completed work is of a high standard, whether outside (garden maintenance) or indoors. He recently refurbished a bathroom that had extensive water damage, and again, superb workmanship.

Dan communicates clearly, turns up when he says he will, does a great job and charges appropriately. He's done long grass strimming for me twice now and I'd highly recommend him. I'll be back for all future tasks needing doing!

Thanks Daniel for helping me with our property care for more than 6 years. Regular garden maintenance, spray weeds, wash house, fixed the wall, made our fence, cleaned the gutter. Honest, quality work, efficient.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Still not sure? Call me on 021 0839 2908 and ask.

What areas does Handy Property Care cover?

I'm based in Upper Moutere and work across Nelson, Richmond, Motueka, Māpua, Brightwater, Wakefield and the wider Tasman district. If you're just outside that patch, ask anyway.

How much does a handyman cost in Tasman?

I price every job before the work starts, so you know the number up front. Quotes are free and there's no obligation. Cost depends on the job, so send through what you need and I'll come back to you with a price.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. Small jobs are most of what I do. Sticking doors, broken hinges, a rotten weatherboard, a shelf that needs putting up, a blocked gutter. If it's been on your list for months, it's exactly the kind of thing to call me about.

Can you do regular maintenance rather than one-off visits?

Yes. Plenty of my clients book a regular slot, either weekly, fortnightly or seasonally, for mowing, gardening and general upkeep. Landlords and property managers often set up a scheduled visit so nothing gets missed between tenancies.

Do you work for landlords and property managers?

Yes. I work for homeowners, landlords, property managers and local businesses, and I'm happy to work through a maintenance list or deal directly with tenants where that's easier for you.

How quickly can you start?

It depends on the size of the job and how booked up I am. Get in touch and I'll tell you honestly where I'm at rather than string you along.

What does a free quote involve?

Send through what you need using the form, an email or a text. For small jobs a photo and a description is often enough. For anything bigger I'll come and look at the site and talk through the options before pricing it.
